I have always called Avery "my favorite little Avery.” (She's the only Avery I know...but even if she weren't, she would hold a special place in my heart.) So, when her mom brought Finley in to see me for the first time, she jokingly wondered if Finley would be “my favorite little Finley" too.
We learned a VALUABLE LESSON with this session. In similar fashion, Finley's parents brought her in for her first portrait session on the way home from the hospital after birth, as they did with Avery. Although this is wonderful because you get the babies at their newest, we learned that there is such a thing as "too soon.” We didn't realize it until after the fact, but when Avery was released from the hospital, she was two days old. Finley was released a day earlier (before mom's milk had come in). And, although we got great images, we had to work a little harder since Finley was obviously a little more irritable (unlike the more peaceful two day old babies that sleep through us capturing their first portraits).
