Singing the Blues

5.14.2007

"Oh where, oh where has my Katia girl gone?
Oh where, oh where can she be?"
I can't believe school is almost out and that the time has come for all these graduating seniors to leave for college. For those of you that haven't seen previous posts in my blog, Katia is my "right hand man." She helps with the artwork and editing on our images. In short...she keeps me sane by keeping my workflow flowin'. Though she is leaving, her position will not change. With the help of technology, she will still have access to all our images and will be chief editor and head honcho over all our image preparations.
Katia,
You have no idea how much I will miss being able to see you! Thank you so much for all your dedication and hard work. You have been vital to our production. Although I'll miss seeing you....I know I'll hear of all your adventures at college.
May God Richly Bless You!

Still Posting

Hello everyone!! I'm still working on getting all these images up-to-date. I hope you are enjoying all the new blog entries. Thanks to everyone for all the feedback and compliments that I'm getting. Don't forget...emails are great but you can post comments directly to the blog and share your fan mail with everyone.
The image below is a "first time" original!
One of my favorite things to do is explore and find elements to use in my images. I was so excited to find this staircase. My last rod iron staircase (that was similar to this one) was torn down when RMU remodeled their downtown office. :o)

Remember?

Remember this little guy?
Here...I'll give you a hint.

You guessed it!! It's "sweet, sweet baby."
Look at how he has grown in the last few months!

Fabricated Beauty

5.13.2007

I thought the message of this Dove advertisement was awesome and wanted to share it with everyone. They have taken a “normal” woman and made so many changes to her using makeup and Photoshop to ensure that she fits the media's form of beauty—nothing about her is left the same.

Although I know Dove chose their "real beauty" theme as a marketing tactic, I'm actually very impressed that they chose to go against the mainstream and instead are beginning to educate the public on real beauty vs. unrealistic "fake" beauty. I would much rather be inundated with the truth than with fictional displays of beauty that don't exist in real life.

Meet Tami

5.10.2007

Recently a friend of mine came to visit from Kentucky. (I love it when she comes to visit!)
I thought it would be neat to introduce everyone to her. :o)
I would like you all to meet Tami.
During her visit, we had a grand idea to do sessions of each other since we are both photographers. We picked out an outfit that we both liked (so our images would blend when we displayed them) and headed downtown.

As you can tell, she is very photogenic and had some great images!
I'm not sure why I like the image below so much but its one of my favorites from her session.

When it was my turn to get in front of the camera, I quickly decided that I liked being on the other side of it better. :o)

I felt so out of place in front of the camera since I am always the one behind it capturing the images.

This image below is probably my favorite.

Tami did an amazing job capturing my images!

Brianna

Brianna had such a fun session. I've known her mom for a few years and it was neat to finally have the opportunity to get to know Brianna.Aren't these the cutest pink Chucks?
Brianna has a little goof in her. :o) She kept things interesting for me. I loved it!

Speechless

I'm speechless. I don't even know what to say about Paige. :o)
I think her images speak for themselves.

Congratulations on your graduation Paige!! I wish you all the best.

Downtown Ballerina

I absolutely loved this session! This cutie is taking ballerina classes. She seemed so comfortable toddling around downtown in her tutu.

The image above cracks me up. If you knew this little girl, you would get the humor behind the expression. She is so much fun!

Dawn-- Thank you again for the opportunity to create such neat images of your little ballerina. I can't wait until next time.

Diva

Periodically I call up a few clients and borrow their kids to test out new creative concepts. I called upon this little diva to create some images that were unique to her personality. I met her at her home and then we spent the afternoon dressing up. I had so much fun!!

Just like any other little diva...this cutie loves her bling bling. :o)

To my little diva,

Thanks again for such a fun session! I can always count on you for a fun filled afternoon.

Are You Related??

There is another family in Rolla with the same last name as mine...Collins. We are always being asked if we're related. For the record, no we are not. :o)
This session was a very special one for me yet a little weird at the same time. This senior used to baby-sit my kids during evening sessions when I first started my studio. It seems like only a few months ago she was playing with my kids and now she is going off to college—what a strange feeling. How did we get here so fast?!

Camp David

I was so excited to have the opportunity to photograph this family and to present their mission. They play a vital role in our community by giving local kids with a jailed parent the opportunity to go to camp. At camp these kids find not only loads of fun activities but also mentors that encourage, support, and teach them.
You can find more information on Camp David's website -- www.campdavidozarks.org/.

As you can tell, this little guy is a live wire. :o) It was so fun seeing the images with his beaming personality. I'm sure he keeps his family entertained 100% of the time. :o)

All Right Already!!

I've heard the uproar of faithful blog followers. I agree—I have not been feeding my blog like I should. :o)

Well get ready!! I have a bunch of backed up images to get online...you will have your fill of new images.

First up...
